The Refreshing Realness of Moving Dead Bodies

I like realness.

I like when things that are hidden get brought into the light.

I like when things that have been resisted are finally allowed to be what they are.

I hate hypocrisy and I like truth and honesty.

Maybe that’s why I offered (in a heartbeat) to help my best friend’s cousin move (five) dead (human) bodies last night.

But I know what you might be thinking, so let me clarify: She’s a funeral home director.

She works with the deceased’s family to help plan the service (if they are having one) and to make sure that what happens to their loved one’s body is what they wanted to have happen.

That’s why it was up to her to make sure the bodies of the people she was responsible for were in the right building at the right time.

And since she’d taken a day off, she had some making up to do to ensure there was space in the right refrigerators for the right people.

Her plan was gonna be to take an uber in at 10 o’clock at night for “an hour” on her own to make sure everything was in order for the morning.

I offered to drive her instead and help if she needed it to get out of there sooner.
